  Fishing Tips
The annual spawning run of sand bass occurs this time of year (spring), as well as the main spawning season for shad and other bait fish (spring/summer). In the morning these schools of sandies, done spawning, move up on shallow flat points busting the shad spawning or trying to spawn there. If you find these fish while trying to catch some postspawn bass it can be frustrating. To beat this throw slower baits (jigs, tiki-sticks, texas-rigs, and c-rigs) around the deeper breaks of the point while the sandies and, sometimes hybrids, are up on the shallow flat part of the point. After the sun comes up and shines for about an hour these sandies will leave and the bass will move up on the flat part where there will be dead bait fish as well as injured ones. Find a school of these bass and bust them all day long! I was on Lewisville Saturday and caught 30 bass doing this pattern with my best five topping 15lbs.
